Please note: In light of the suspension of many classes, workshops, and working commitments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CADA/East will postpone the spring TSP period. This portion of the TSP would usually cover training completed between March 1 and May 31, 2020, with a claim form submission deadline of June 1, 2020.
For many in our communities, trainings within this timeframe have been cancelled. However, if you have trained within this period, including participation in any form of online or at home classes, you can submit those receipts on October 1, 2020, alongside the first TSP claims period of the 2020/21 membership season.
What is the TSP?
Ongoing training and professional development are a crucial part of a dance career. Regular physical conditioning maintains your body as an instrument, relevant opportunities for artistic development engage your mind as an interpreter and creator, and on-going, consistent technical training keeps your technique current. These activities position you as an active and employable member of the professional community.
CADA/East reimburses Professional Members for the costs of physical dance training through the Training Subsidy Program (TSP).
How does it work?
Professional Members may receive reimbursements for up to 60% of costs for training that takes place within Canada, up to an annual total of $350. In 2018/19, CADA/East has allocated $40 000 to the TSP. Therefore, the 2018/19 TSP has a total disbursal cap of $40 000, or $13 333 per disbursal period for all members. You can read our full disbursal policy here.
What costs can I claim on the TSP?
- Dance technique classes (drop-in or class cards).
- Physical conditioning (fitness club memberships, Pilates, yoga, etc.).
- Workshops, master classes, and intensives.
The minimum claim amount per period is $25.00.
The TSP is not for training to prepare for a parallel career, such as teacher training programs. For that purpose, please visit the Dancer Transition Resource Centre.
There are 3 claim periods (disbursal periods) for 2019/20:
| Claim|| Training Dates||Deadline |
| 1|| June 1 - September 30|| October 1|
| 2|| October 1 - February 28|| March 1|
| 3|| March 1 - May 31|| June |
